  • Distributed Rendering and Project settings

    Hi,

I'm trying to know what is the behaviour of the Max "Project" settings with Distributed Rendering.

If i set a set a custom Project folder in Max, the paths configuration (specifically the texture paths) are stored in a .mxp file. But does DR uses this configuration in some way ?
As far as i know, it doesn't... but some of our customers are experiencing different results. It seems the maps configuration of the DR nodes (defined in 3dsmax.ini) is updated automatically when submit a DR job.

    Any idea about it ?

    Thanks,

    Hi Carlos,

In order to have DR fully working without warning and errors for missing assets, all external files must be set to absolute paths.
Setting the 3DS Max project to a network shared folder should work. Just make sure that Asset tracking manager shows the full path to the textures folder in the Path column.

If you give us a workflow that has more specific setting, we can run few tests.

      Hi Tashko,

Ok, I just wanted to confirm that V-Ray doesn't modify the map paths, or use the .mxp files.

      Thanks,
