  • Vray 3.2? MAX 2016 when?

    Hi,

We have been using Max 2016 and we have installed the old Max 2015 Vray 3.1 version. It works, but we also want to use Itoo Forest and the developers of that plugin is waiting for full Vray Max 2016 support.
So any news on when Vray for Max 2016 will be released?

    /Andreas

Yes. It would be rather lame, if we give the code to Autodesk and then not support it

Vlado, is there any advantage or disadvantage to using Max's Phys cam versus Vray's version? Or are they essentially identical?

They are almost identical in terms of rendeirng. The Autodesk guys did a very nice viewport integration though, with support for DOF in the viewport and so on - something we never could have done. They also made the UI more convenient.

And this nice viewport with DOF and so on will be functional only with max cam?

And second question, VRay user should use VRay cam or dont care?

                    Yes.

We actually hid the V-Ray camera from the UI in Max 2016. It will still load along with old scenes for compatibility reasons, but for newer scenes, the expectation is to use the Max one.

That's a good news ! Finally back to using only one camera type in 3ds max. No more converting from standard cam to vrayphyscam and vice versa

Yeah, it was causing us a lot of headaches too as some 3rd party tools would only support the Standard camera, because it's the one that comes with Max.
