  • Incorrect output size of Activeshade mode for Vray 3.5

    Hi all,

I have currently upgraded my Vray RT to 3.5. Whenever I started the activeshade rendering, the output size is never the same as what I typed into the Vray Settings. Wonder if there's any settings wrong to cause this situation. Thanks.

    Best,
    Ju

The Output image size can be different for production and active shade renderings. Make sure that you have the same width and height in Output Size while Active shade is selected as a current renderer.

      Hi,

Currently we track the size of the VFB and output it as render resolution. A toggle for turning that feature off is coming in 3.50.04
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

This is apparently due to ActiveShade adaptively adjusting the resolution to Vray's VFB window. So if you adjust the size of the VFB window, it will adjust the resolution "on-the-fly". As mentioned elsewhere, an option to turn this function off is planned for an update (hopefully soon). It was an odd feature to add as it automatically makes the resolution in the render options redundant.

EDIT: Yes Slizer, you were quicker than me

I see! That makes sense to me now. THANK YOU!!
Will there be a heads up for the announcement time of 3.50.04?

I think the option to turn this off will be good as it doesn't work at the moment, it should at least stick to the aspect ratio set in the output settings.

Maybe there's a workaround for this until the next official update is released? I currently call up an old VFB image resolution before starting RT but this only works if the target resolution fits within the monitor resolution. Anything larger will scale down the VFB automatically.
