  • Free on-demand rendering with V-Ray and Deadline 8 in May

    Hello,

I posted earlier that we partnered with Thinkbox to provide on-demand licensing for V-Ray through Deadline 8; as part of the beta for Deadline 8, you can get free on-demand licenses for V-Ray during the whole of May. For more information see the link below:

    http://www.thinkboxsoftware.com/news...ng-in-may.html

Note that you will need an updated build of V-Ray 3.30 that works with the Deadline 8 on-demand licensing; email us to support@chaosgroup.com to get it.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

We've established a base price, but the actual bundles are still being determined; we hope to have the final details very soon.

I'm not sure what is the exact answer here I wouldn't like to lead you on - it would be best to ask the Thinkbox guys how they implemented the core counting.

the sales team should double check... i dont get why we should get punished only cause we have nodes with many cores...
all other render engines on this service are lics per node...

You don't get punished; your job will simply run through faster so you'll pay less anyways. Conversely if you choose to go with slower but cheaper render nodes, your job will go through slower, but you still pay the same amount in the end.

true if you compare vray to vray...
but if you compare it with other render engines you get less if you have a lot of hardware power...

<shrug> I have forwarded this to our sales guys, they will decide what to do with it. It does seem quite uncompetitive, probably because our pricing was more geared for usage on the cloud than for a local render farm. But it's definitely something that we should consider more carefully. Thanks for the pointer.

                      Best regards,
                      Vlado

Btw we do offer rental licenses for V-Ray render nodes specifically, which might be another option to look into.

We need to clarify our agreement with Thinkbox before V-Ray makes it back to their store.
