    Yeah, greed.....

I was very close to building a copy of their Render Box, I'll see if I can find the parts list on my hard drive somewhere - what put me off in the end were my doubts over the noise and heat that'd be generated (as the cooling didn't look very efficient).

nothing. basically you just pay for the brand, and the idea that they can put together a machine better than you can...

Their Render Pro 2 form factor is a plus. Where else can you buy a case that size and shape?

The board used is a Supermicro - I sourced all components, including the mobo - so the form factor would be same, small footprint.

But yes, if you want it shrouded in a tiny case (which doesn't help the cooling) then that could be easily fabricated as well.

Arrived yesterday and I have yet to find a 9 pin VGA to HDMI adapter. Heck, can you even buy a monitor with a 9 pin VGA anymore? My monitor doesn't even have VGA inputs. Why would they use a 9 pin VGA?

For the initial setup, don't I need to see what is going on? How else would I set up the static IP and stuff?

Almost comical.I got the dvi to hdmi, but now I can't find the VGA to DVI, which came with it. I can't even find one online.

I found the VGA to DVI adaptor, but it really doesn't do me any good. I now have the 15-pin D-Sub to an HDMI adaptor, but no signal. Imagine, I used to do this for a living.

Okay, it isn't me. I was told by BOXX that I'll need an old VGA monitor for the initial setup.

hmm really? is there a way to detect inputs in your current monitor? it maybe just a matter of rescanning for inputs once you plug it in?

Yes, I can scan inputs, but it doesn't find it. BOXX support says I'll need an older VGA monitor, so I ordered one from eBay.
