  • Huge HD VRIMG files.

I'm wondering if there are any compression settings or methods to reduce the on-disk file size of VRIMG files? I am rendering out an animation (1080p) and need to save VRIMG files as I want to run the denoiser tool. Each frame is around 150MB.

The only render elements I have set up are the denoiser, the samplerate (I should probably get rid of this), the vrayselfillumination element and the vrayreflection.

If I can't reduce the size, I'm going to have to bu some more hard disks
    Kind Regards,

They are compressed with ZIP compression, but it's not very effective for this type of data. You will get smaller files if you use 16-bit OpenEXR files (with or without DWAA/DWAB compression).

OK, and presumably 16-bit OpenEXRs will hold all the same info as VRIMG files?

Just saved an exr file as instructed (well, through RPManager, I didn't seem to have an option of 16bit) and the file is around 65MB, so I guess it contains the various matte channels and denoise info. How do I access these extra channels? Photoshop just opens it as a 'normal' open exr file.

(EDIT: I have EXtractoR for After Effects so I seem to be able to gain access there, but how about in Photoshop?)
