  • I go nuts! GPU Denoiser stuck / CPU affinity / VFB not updating / VFB Hang...

I'm really frustrated by a handful issues with max and vray:
    • GPU Denoiser is not working in VFB. (Progressive)
Hardware acceleration on/off leads to nothing, select gpu devices = nothing.
Only Standalone Denoiser is working. Setting "only generate render elements" leads to finished render and after finish it worked on GPU by switching to "show denoiser result channel" and press update. So with active "show denoiser result channel" it leads to stuck on Pass(3). 0%CPU and 0%GPU
All you can do is kill 3dsmax.exe
    • VFB is not updating in Progressive Mode
only works when you zoom the image!

    Notes:
    • This in a administrative cmd does nothing, all cores are used by vray at 100%
    set /a CORE_COUNT=%NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS%-1
    setx /M VRAY_NUM_THREADS %CORE_COUNT%
    • Also the sys-variable "VRAY_NUM_THREADS" leads, ....****TATA****.... to nothing!

    Hi Phil,

Apologize for the late reply here.
Since I don't find the exact software versions used at your side Max & V-Ray, it would be helpful to post them here. Sometimes resetting 3DS Max helps with VFB issues like this, can you try to remove (back it up first) the Max ENU folder C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMaxDes ign\(Version of 3ds Max or Max Design)

GPU Denoiser is not working in VFB. (Progressive)
Do you see any errors in the Log ? You are rendering with V-Ray Next/ V-Ray ADV ?
Does it happen with particular scene or with any file you try?

This is a long shot, but sometimes Windows update messes up the GPU drivers. Just in case, try to update with the latest one from the NVIDIA website and restart the PC after update (restart is important, even if the driver doesnt ask for it).
