  • V-Ray for Maya 3.40.05 now available

    There's a new update to V-Ray for Maya available for download on our website.
    The new version includes several important bug fixes over 3.40.04. Here's the change log:

    New features:
    (*) V-Ray: Support for half-float TIFFs;

    Modified features:
    (*) V-Ray: Improved performance with dynamic geometry on machines with more than 32 cores;
    (*) V-Ray: More robust detection of changed files for the bitmap cache;
    (*) Ornatrix: Support for textured hair widths;

    Bug fixes:
    (*) Lighting render element: Fixed "Lighting" RE not generating correctly;
    (*) MayaLightDirect: Fixed artifacts with soft shadows and shadow bias;
    (*) V-Ray: Tiff files weren't closed properly on Windows;
    (*) V-Ray: Fixed MultiMatte not working in VRayBlendMtl without MultiMatteID;
    (*) V-Ray: Fixed crash with NURBS of first degree;
    (*) V-Ray: Fixed wrong rendering of UDIM textures with frame offset;
    (*) V-Ray: Fixed crash with viewport IPR panel in Hypershade;
    (*) V-Ray IPR: Fixed slowdown when mouse tracking is enabled;
    (*) VRayDenoiser: Fixed failure with hardware acceleration on very large images;
    (*) VRayDisplacement/Subdivision: Fixed crash when baking to Ptex;
    (*) Ornatrix: Fixed MacOSX support;
    (*) VRayScannedMtl: Fixed watermarks appearing even with a license;
    (*) VRayVolumeGrid: Fixed crash when loading a cache while IPR is running;
    (*) VRayVolumeGrid: V-Ray maxRenderThreads setting will be respected during emissive lights creation;
    (*) V-Ray GPU: Fixed bump issues with UDIM tiling;

      We released a hot fix for V-Ray for Maya. You can find it on our site, its version number is 3.40.06

      Here's the change log:

      Bug fixes:
      (*) V-Ray: Fixed "error writing file" message when writing PNG with multimatte element set to material ID;
      (*) VFB: Fixed line artifacts from the bucket brackets on OSX;

      Modified features:
      (*) V-Ray: Increased default texture cache size to 4000MB;


      We advise switching to 3.40.06, especially if you render on a farm.
