  • Splotches using VRayVolumeGrid

I'm having some flickering and splotches in my volume grid, reminiscent of GI flickering. The smoke has a very large voxel size on screen, and I'm using vray distance tex and noise to add all the detail. I tried lowering the light cache reduction parameter, which helped a great deal, but even at 0, there is still some flicker. Is there a way I can increase the caching quality further?

    Hello,

Can you attach the scene here or send it to support@chaosgroup.com so we can take a look?

Running into the same issue, what was the solution?

        Thanks,

We never resolved it. After a bit of back and forth because of misunderstandings about what the problem was, I ended up just disabling the light cache speed up entirely IIRC

            Hey,
Generally if you have some noise or splotches - reducing the Light Cache Speedup will help in most cases.
If you still have some issues, try disabling it (setting it to 0 will still have effect so you need to turn it off from the checkbox), note that this will slowdown the rendering though.
If disabling the Light Cache doesn't help - send us the scene and we'll figure out what's wrong.

            Thank you,
