  • pushing IPR interactivity

    Hi guys,

    Couple MAYA IPR improvments requests.
    1) I hope the interactivity of IPR can be closer to real-time response for camera/object/light movements. i.e. IPR updates are based on movements of mouse and sliders while it's moving, as opposed to the "release" of the mouse and sliders. I assume it has to do with how events are processed during IPR....
Kind of like what we currently have in 3.6. As I change the intensity of a Rect light by sliding back and forth the intensity multiplier, I can see very noisy/pixelated result updating pretty much real-time in VFB.

    2) I hope IPR can support smooth animation playback and timeline scrubbing.
    example 1 (starting 1;36), example 2 (starting 5:01)

Would be really awesome to see this in future V-Ray builds.

    cheers,
    Jason

Yes, you are correct - it has to do with the way events are handled. We generally do the update on mouse-release (hence the difference in your second post), but moving a slider for a light parameter does some internal maya timed updates which we get and it's more of a feel that something is different in event handling.

All valid points, I'll check in with the devs. Thanks for your input, appreciated as always.

Btw many of these things work fine if you use viewport IPR.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

              Hi vlado, Alex, and all,

I saw this in the V-Ray Next Beta 3 for max release note.
(*) V-Ray GPU: IPR reacts to objects and lights movement immediately instead of waiting for mouse button release.

Would it be possible to see this added for Maya for both CPU and GPU in 3.6 releases or Next?

              Thanks!
