Fur color isolate

I have no idea how far fetch of an idea this is. But would it ever be possible to select a color range for the fur to produce from? For example, if you have a desert brownish image for your ground with small patches of green grass. I would like the fur to recognize only the green hues and produce fur in those spots only.

I was browsing the forum when I came up to this thread. Your request was implemented in Update 1 of V-Ray Next for Revit. You can give it a try if you haven't done it yet.
