  • V-Ray 3.6 for Rhino is on its way

    Hi All,

We wanted to share some exciting news and give a heads-up to the whole V-Ray for Rhino community gathered here.
We understand you are expecting some improvements and new features for V-Ray for Rhino and are happy to announce that the new V-Ray 3.6 for Rhino will be coming out at the end of January-2018.

Here is a sneak-peek on what we have prepared for you in the latest version:

    ADAPTIVE LIGHTS
In scenes with many lights, the new Adaptive Lights mode can help you speed up render times by up to 700%.

    STREAMLINED UI
The entire V-Ray for Rhino interface has been updated and streamlined for a more intuitive, user- friendly workflow.

    HYBRID GPU+CPU RENDERING
V-Ray GPU running on NVIDIA CUDA can take full advantage of all available hardware, including CPUs and GPUs.

    V-RAY SCENE IMPORT
Import and render V-Ray scenes (.vrscene) from other applications such as 3ds Max, SketchUp, and Revit.

    FILE MANAGER
Manage all your scene files in one place. Set file paths, create scene archives, and keep track of assets like textures, IES files, and proxy objects.

    ANIMATIONS
V-Ray 3.6 for Rhino introduces a new simplified workflow for rendering light studies, turntables and fly-through animations.

    THAT'S NOT ALL...
The full feature list will be shared with all of you on the release date.

We do not foresee any changes to the current end-user upgrade prices announced on our website. And as usual, the upgrade for all V-Ray for Rhino 3.x license holders will be FREE.

    Happy holidays to us!
Is the Streamlined UI mentioned in the post different from the 3.4 version? That was a major change compared to previous 2.x series.

Thank you for the head-ups news. I'm very curious for the new streamlined UI, since the v3.4 caused a lot of clicking/scrolling and needs a lot of screens space also at 4k display and options was to much scattered. For me as pro user it's very important to keep the click count not higher than at v2. I hope we get the chance for some user-based-development loops within a short time frame. For me UI and bug fixes are more important than new features.

      Merry Christmas,

        Hi guys,

        The Streamlined UI includes:
        > Re-design for all material and textures parameters
        > Updated texture creation list
        > Exposed lights quick controls in the lights list
        > Updated V-Ray / Rhino toolbar
        > Improved camera UI
        > Simplified GI and Caustics Disc Caching UI
        > Updated Fur, Clipper and Proxy UI
        > Improved Lights Rhino-side UI
        > Most of the tooltips have been updated
        + more

All the changes should speed up the workflow making things more visual and intuitive.
New functionality has been added only where it'll boost productivity.

        Best regards,
        Konstantin

Hello everyone! Now that Rhino 6 is available, and VfR 3.6 is right on the corner, what is the plan for supporting Rhino 6?

          Best regards!

The Dev team is currently working on a Rhino 6 compatible build. It should be released in a few weeks.

            Kind regards,
            Peter
