  • Rhino V5 and V-Ray Next 4.20.01 - Undo

    Hi,
I've been testing the latest update on V7 and V6 and it seems that it works great.

But because of 2 plugins I need to use V5 sometimes for modeling and it's doing something strange.

Undo saves each small change to materials in the undo stack, and this is a big problem.

Apparently this bug that was also in the previous version.

    Hello, Joaquín,
In Rhino 5 each change to V-Ray material parameters is actually first "shadowed" to an internal Rhino material, thus all the "Basic Material" updates flood the undo stack.
Unfortunately, there is no solution I can provide to change this behavior in Rhino 5. Consider it as a limitation on this specific platform version. The undo list of version 6 or later is not affected.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

      Hello Peter,
I understand, I've been using V6 for the final scene to render and V5 just for modeling some plugin dependent parts, but I though that there might be a solution, are McNeel developers aware of this?

This is on our side. As mentioned, the way V-Ray transfers material changes to Rhino generates all of them as separate actions and since it provokes updates to a Rhino material they're registered in the undo stack.
In Rhino 6 V-Ray simply does not record these particular actions in Rhino's undo stack but they do happen nevertheless.
