  • Vray windows broken in Windows 11

Just updated to Windows 11. Vray windows are missing title bars and behaving very strangely. See link to video (can't get it under 2MB limit)

    Hi jeremy_levitt,

Thanks for sharing, we'll investigate and get back to you ASAP.
Meanwhile, can you also mention details regarding your system - CPU/GPU/drivers?

    Much appreciated!

      Hello, Jeremy,

      Thank you for reaching out!
I'm afraid we were not able to reproduce the behavior showcased in your video.
Allow me to expand on the question from my colleague, Nikoleta, by requesting some additional information.
If you do not wish to post your answers publicly, please send them as a forum private message to me or in a support ticket with a reference to this forum thread.
      1. What are your full hardware specs and full version number of your GPU drivers?
      2. What is your Windows 11 version and OS build number? (Press the 'Windows key + Pause/Break key' shortcut to open your Windows specifications)
      3. Did you migrate from Windows 8.1 or Windows 10?
      4. Was Rhino and V-Ray already installed when you migrated your OS or did you install any of them after it was completed?
      5. Have you experienced similar issues with your browser or any other apps on Windows 11?
      6. Please press 'Windows key + X' then choose "Command Prompt (Admin)". Type in "sfc /scannow" (without quotation marks) and press 'Enter'.
This System File Checker tool will take a few minutes to check for integrity violations of your system. Please share with us its result.
      7. Do you use any custom Graphic settings for running Rhino (preference for GPU device)?
      8. Do you use any custom accessibility personalization options in Windows 11 or have you tweaked Windows 11 in any way?
If you feel uncertain about any of these questions, please let us know and we will arrange live assistance at a time convenient to you.

      Kind regards,
      Peter

In this regard, I would also like to mention the following:
With the recent rollout of Windows 11 by Microsoft we conducted V-Ray for Rhino tests on the new OS.
So far we are not aware of any issues hindering the functionality of our product.
We recommend to anyone who encounters an issue with V-Ray after migrating to Windows 11 to reach out to us for further assistance by either opening a new thread in this forum or contacting our Support team at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Unfortunately I had to revert back to Windows 10, I had to do some critical renders and couldn't work with a broken Vray. I didn't use any custom graphics or accessibility settings.

I upgraded to the latest build of Windows 11 available on the Windows Insider website, which I also believe is the public version released on Oct 5.

Rhino and Vray were already installed in Windows 10. When I opened the programs, the Vray assett editor window was broken as I showed in the video. However, the vfb window looked fine, it had a title bar and the buttons worked properly. However, Swarm was broken (no other PCs were showing in the Network configuration panel), so I reinstalled Vray. Swarm started working and other PCs on my network showed up, however the broken asset editor window still remained.

So I reverted back to Windows 10. This fixed the broken windows, but Swarm was broken again, so I had to reinstall Vray again. Everything back to normal after that.
