  • V-Ray lights bugs

Just downloaded 3.6. Big mistake. Clicking on a V-Ray light creates a light but then I can't do anything with it - move it, size it, etc. And once I've selected a V-Ray light I can't close Rhino, I have to force shut it down.

    Hello,

Could you please share more info about your problem?
    - What type of light causes the issue? Is it an existing light or one just created
    - Does this occur only in a specific project or is it reproducible even when you create the same light in a new one
    - Are there any other 3rd-party plugins installed beside V-Ray

Additioanlly, please go to https://download.chaosgroup.com/ and download V-Ray for Rhino again (the file is updated). Reinstall V-Ray 3.6 for Rhino and let us know whether the issue is still reproducible.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

      I re-downloaded V-Ray and the problems persist.
The only other plugin I have installed is Thea.
The problem occurs in any use of Rhino - opening an existing project, opening a blank instance of the program, whatever

It's the dome light. After re-downloading I was able to create create lights, move them around, size them, etc. But as soon as I clicked on the dome light the problems occurred.

        Thank you for your reply!
Could you please disable Thea render, and try editing a Dome light again? Let me know if this fixes your problem.
If it doesn't, please send an email at support@chaosgroup.com with detailed description of your problem (or a link to this forum thread) so my colleagues from Support can further assist.

        Kind regards,
        Peter

That fixes the problem in the short term but what about in the long term? Thea is good at many things that V-Ray is not so I switch between them while I'm working. I hope I won't have to disable / close Rhino / re-open Rhino every time I want to switch from one plugin to the other for the long term.

            Hi arail,

Thank you for the assistance in finding the issue.
We will try to reproduce it here in the office and we'll do our best to resolve the this with our next release.

By the way, in your post you've mentioned that you often have to switch renderers.
Is there anything in particular lacking in V-Ray that you would like to see in the future and that will simplify your workflow?

            Regards,
            Konstantin
