  • 3.6 Mapping problem with AXYZ 3D models

Mapping of my AZYZ 3D models no longer working after upgrading to Vray 3.60.01 ADV for Rhino 5. See attached screen shot.

They still show in the Rhino Viewport just won't render in Vray with maps.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Otherwise is there anything special I need to do when performing a downgrade back to version 3.4 (from 3.6)?

Our developers are looking into the issue these models have with material migration.
As a temporary workaround, please open the model material and disable the topmost layer's Transparency map checkbox.

      Kind regards,
      Peter

Thank you Peter. I'm having trouble finding the correct transparency setting. If you can be more explicit in how to find that setting in 3.6 that would be extremely helpful. I did run a render of the same model in Rhino (using the Rhino default rendering engine) as a test and it worked (horrible looking but worked). It looks like the model is unable to find its texture mapping in V-ray 3.6. I double-checked to make sure all materials are linked to the model in the file path editor (assets). They also show up in the Asset Editor. Just not as rendered output.

Peter, I was unable to find any top level transparency setting until I deleted the VRayBRDF (top layer). Once I did that the "Opacity" layer showed a "Transparency" check box and I was able to render the image.

Apologies! In most cases you would indeed need to delete the initial topmost layer first.

            Kind regards,
            Peter
