  • Material library

    Hi there,

I was wondering if the new version of vray now supports the individual adaption of the integrated material library for a NAS path. Our project workflow is based on a central NAS, so this would be super important for us. Copying the materials in the C:\ path doesn't really work for us. Any workaround or other idea would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks and cheers!

Sorry for not doing my research... I've found out that this topic was already in the forum. Seems like it is not possible yet. This feature would be have an enormous impact on workflow speed! Please go for it!

Why dont you just put the materials in a folder on the nas and then just map the path to a drive letter on your network machines? That's worked perfectly here for over a decade. I keep everything on the nas.

        Thanks Travis,

My question was about the new material library in ray 3.6. I'm not sure if your suggested solution refers to this. Sure we could do some mirroring (or similar) but this can mess up things pretty easy. So a clean solution for manually setting the library path would be appreciated.

ahhh i see your issue better now. I suppose you could copy all of those materials over to your nas and then just load materials. When loading the windows open dialog should at least give you thumbnail previews of the materials. Not as cool as the library but at least a library you have control over for now.

We surely want to enhance the preset material library functionality and hope to do it in the next updates.
Just wanted to let you know feedback such as this is appreciated as it is our goal to accommodate diverse project workflows.

            Kind regards,
            Peter
