  • Exclusive settings on lights

Very useful to have a setting that allows each light to light up only certain objects in a scene.

    Hello, Steven,

Thank you for your suggestion. This is a feature already on the V-Ray for Rhino roadmap but planned for development after v3.6.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

Steven, with all my respect, but why would anybody want to abuse a photo-realistic render engine with such an escapist feature?
Just go down a photograpic approach: plan your scene according to what needs to be presented, place and set up lights and camera properly, create accurate materials. Then, you won't run into the trouble of correcting the light setup here and there with a million additional light sources that cannot exist in reality. The greatest renders will always feature "flaws" as they can only occur in reality. This also (or maybe even in the first place) includes light and shadow. Have a look at the past ten issues of IKEA catalogue and/or click below link for reference. I can also relate very much to what the 5SRW method is all about, awesome resource.

Peter, if you guys are seriously thinking about accumulating more of these fictionary features, please also consider a [REALITY MODE]-button to hide them all
Otherwise, we end up with an overloaded Asset Editor nobody is willing to navigate through, again - worse than the previous versions. While we're at it: congrats, the V3 layout has improved big time!

      Thank you,
      Matthias

        Hey Matthias,
I am used to having that option and it has its function. When dealing with white labels and white products and white walls it easy to blow out a rendering with too much light.

Steven, could you post an example? I never miss this feature too in the last 10 years.
