  • Glass VRAY material funky ,MAC

When I apply vray glass materials to a model, every time I use the material on a new window unit , a new material is created in my SU materials browser and the materials list in vray, and I thus cannot edit effectively, it is the exact same material but a duplicate,,I would have to select all surfaces at once and then paint.
    Anybody else having this problem??

      Thank you for reporting this.
Our developers are already aware of the issue and are looking into it.
Do you happen to remember what you were doing when this issue first occurred (when the first copy is created)? How did you apply the material to each object (using the bucket tool or right-click > apply material to selection)? Are the window units instances of a single component or simply grouped geometry?
A sample project with duplicated colors which we can investigate would be highly appreciated!

      Kind regards,
      Peter

        Hi Peter
It happened right after the public release of 3.6
I have attempted to use several methods with the same result, also components and just floating geometry.
are you looking for the model or a VRscene?
PS this happened with alll VRAY glass I tried

Hi Lars, I have the same problem here as well. I'm just assigning the materials through the asset manager for now. I hope this gets fixed. I believe the bug already existed in pre 3.6. I made my own glass and used that over and over so I never reported it I think.

            Peerman,.
Thanks, good to know, I tried maybe 4 kinds of glass and they were all corrupt,,,, PITA big time but it sounds like Chaushev is on it.
I have been gone from the forum for quite some months are there any MAC specific developments that you are fond off,, features, hardware specific stuff??
I looked into external GPU but the price seemed too high for me, what are you doing for more power??
            Best

Hi Lars, a bit off topic but I'm still rendering on the same machine. For more power we are looking into buying a couple of rendernodes so I can use some other machines. The jump to eGPU's is a bit to big as I haven't found anyone else yet that does make use of it. At home I have an older iMac with an NVidia card in it (2012 model) and it can use both GPU and CPU. It renders quicker but I found that not all features translate well and since the card only has 2GB some model don't even want to start... So for now it's CPU's only. We can PM if you want to discuss this further?

              Best,
              Peter (peerman)

                Thanks Peter.
That is enough of an update for me, thank you very much. We both know tat apple engineers are smart enough to make this happen for us, what is holding them back.
Hope you have some exciting projects.

We should have this resolved in time for v3.60.02.

On a side note, the V-Ray Benchmark 1.0.7 release comes with OSX and Linux support. You may want to give it a try or just compare results at https://www.chaosgroup.com/vray/benchmark

Cool! I will try the benchmark back at home (I don't expect big numbers, but it's nice to try). Now hoping for OpenGL support, so I can use GPU rendering on my AMD card...
                    Thanks also for the bugfix!!

Our devs were not able to resolve the issue due to a SketchUp bug being involved. Hope to have it fixed in time for our next update.

                        Kind regards,
