  • What is "texman"?

At end of render I receive this message:

"Maximum memory usage for texman: 0.00 MB"

Happens with CPU or GPU/CPU both in bucket mode. Happens on files with textures, as well as color only and even a white model.
    Didn't happen with Sketchup 2018 & Vray 3.6.

    Vray Next Sketchup 2019

    8700k

    RTX 2070 driver 419.67

    W10 1809 17763.379
    Thanks,
    Glenn

*update I do not receive message for render finished, I have to watch HWmonitor to see CPU/GPU drop to 0.

    Hello, Glenn,
The memory usage for "texman" refers to the memory dedicated for tiled textures only. You can read a detailed explanation at
    https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...669#post792669

Regarding the lack of message indicating the completion of the render process, please make sure you are not using Interactive rendering mode. If this is not the case, please share a progress log illustrating this behavior. The Progress Window can be brought up via the square button at the bottom-right corner of the VFB.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

      Peter,

      Thanks for the reply.

I do not use Interactive, as shown in screen grab.

I'll private message the text from progress window.

It should print the Progress window status message instead of the last log line. Thank you for pointing it out. Our devs will look into it!

          Update for 4.00.02
Still getting "Maximum memory usage for texman: 0.00 MB"
          Instead of rendering finished.

Also, many crashes. Files created in SU 2019 & Vray 4.00.01, files updated to Vray 4.00.02, files from SU 2018 & Vray 3.6? Then converted to SU 2019 & Vray 4.00.02.

As well, NEUI grabs CPU for 65%+ for a few to several minutes depending on part file size, anytime I edit a material.

          Vray 4.00.02
          Sketchup 2019 19.1.174
          Windows 10 1809, build 17763.437
          NVidia 419.67 Creator
          I8700k, RTX 2070,

          Thanks,
          Glenn

            Hello,

A solution for the final render message is not yet available. There is a ticket about this already logged and scheduled after your initial report.
The CPU usage you've mentioned is due to the material preview window. It runs an interactive render of the material swatch. The process is set to low thread priority so it will not obstruct any other ongoing processes.

Regarding the crashes you've experienced, if you have not yet reached out to our Support team, please do so by sending an email at support@chaosgroup.com . They will directly assist you with any issues you are having.

            Kind regards,
            Peter

This is still an issue as I get the message in the VFB every time I render. I colleague thought something was wrong with their file because this message leaves the impression you have some out of some memory or something.
