  • Optimizing rendering time with ideal settings

    Hi all,

I'm new here and of course I only have 2 months experience in rendering projects and I'm wondering what is the average time for rendering a project?

Currently working on a 4000 x 2000 spherical rendering and it takes me more than 8 hours and it's just 25% completion for just 1 view.

You may take a look from this https://storage.net-fs.com/hosting/6...LnUrd2PMIXBaEU

    My PC spec is below;
    • i9
    • RAM 64GB
    • GPU NVIDIA RTX 2070
Looking forward to some guidance to a great rendering setting!

    Best regards,

Hey, if you are using Vray Next all you need to do is set Max subdivs to 50 and use bucket mode..then you can use noise threshold to control noise/quality .. the default value of .01 works nicely for most scenes
For interior scenes you can use LC subdivs of 2000 ... and don't touch any other settings
Render settings are quite easy now in Vray, usually you don't spend much time on them at all
My settings above should work for 99% of the scenes.. you can go lower on noise threshold if you want a cleaner result (something like .007 or so ,or you can go up to .02 if you wanna use the denoiser and save a bit more of rendering time)

      Hello, wyman ,

Spending so much time on a single shot and reaching only 25% completion is definitely abnormal!
Can you please state the version of V-Ray for SketchUp you currently use?

If you feel ok to share that specific scene or at least a stripped-down version of it that exhibits the same slowdown, I can look into it and propose changes that can help you cut down the render time dramatically.
You can send a scene by using the SketchUp menu Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project and then ship the resulting archive to support@chaosgroup.com via a file-sharing service of your choice. A link to this forum thread for quick reference would also be appreciated.

      Kind regards,
      Peter

Thank you for your reply! I will definitely try it out and see how much shorter can I cut it. I notice when it's low light like night scene, it will take longer than day scene.
