  • Where did the 'copy' and 'paste' function for materials go?!

    Hi everyone,

I am working with Vray 3.60.02 for Sketchup Pro 2018.

Might be a very stupid question, but I noticed in the latest version that when you right-click on a material in the asset editor, the options 'copy' and 'paste' have gone missing?! Before I could just copy all the properties of one material onto another, very handy!

Is there a way to get these back? Because I use this a lot in my workflow!

    Kind regards,
    Ana Michelena

By the way, I know that there is the 'use as replacement'/'replace' option, but then you apply a different material to the objects, instead of changing the properties of the current material...

      Hello, Ana,

as previously mentioned in other threads, the Copy & Paste functionality has been removed due to its potential to cause discrepancies and is no longer needed thanks to the replacement functionality.
If you wish to have a material with the same attributes as another one, use the Duplicate command instead.

      Kind regards,
      Peter

Just trying to understand this. When you are clicking the "Use as Replacement" option are you right clicking the material you have selected? Or just right clicking anywhere in the materials list.

For example, If i open a blank Sketchup (using 2018 ) i get Stacy and all of her inherent materials. If i select "Stacy_Pants", click "Select objects in scene" it will select everything with that material. If i then select "Stacy_Shirt" so it is the Active material in the preview but right click on "Stacy_Shoe" and then click "Use as replacement" it will replace anything using "Stacy_pants" with "Stacey_Shoe" not the active material i have in the preview.

To me this seems to be working as intended, although i can see the confusion it may cause.
