  • Will V-Ray work with AMD GPU's?

    My machine currently has a Nvidia Quadro K600...quite an old and cheap GPU, yet V-Ray does recognize it for GPU and hybrid rendering. I can switch it out for a AMD Firepro W5100 which is more powerful. I would like to check and make sure V-Ray will in fact recognize and be compatible with this AMD GPU.

    No, you cannot use AMD GPU because, Vray GPU uses Nvidia cuda.

      Hm, am I rely replying to Frank Gehry?
      Anyways, can't you still just stick to openCL Gpu render, if using AMD?

        O think no, but maybe someone from Chaos group will prove it.

          I don't know too much about this, as I use Nvidia cards....but remember seeing users asking for AMD GPU support from time to time on here. Not sure if it only applies Mac users, or universally to AMD/openCL(but I think it's all openCL on Vray 3)....

          Here is a semi-recent thread discussing this------> https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...pport-for-macs

          And another-------> https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...v-ray-sketchup

          And a screenshot from Vfsu FAQ----->

            Currently only CUDA (NVidia) rendering is supported by V-Ray 3 / SketchUp. AMD cards cannot be used for rendering.

              Seriously, is Frank Gehry using SketchUp and VRay and asking us questions??? That would be the coolest thing to happen to these forums in a long time.

                ValeroStudio: he is probably not real Frank Gehry, beacause dates (days) of birth do not match
