  • Support for Substance plugin

Support for the new Substance plugin in 3ds Max. CPU works fine, with GPU it renders transparent. So Im guessing it?s not supported yet. Correct me if I?m wrong.

We probably have to bake the Substance textures to actual bitmaps... will make a note to look into it.

    Best regards,

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

      That would be great.

Just out of curiosity: Is it not necessary in CPU version to bake the Substance into maps or what’s the difference between CPU and GPU?

Agreed! We are using substance more and more these days and I'm about to kick off a big personal project using Next GPU. Unfortunately I will need to bake out all of my hundreds of substance shaders into maps.

Hm.... I asked to Substance guys about GPU plugin when they visited us a few days ago here.
They seems not to have solution other than baking.

To support GPU, they need to make GPU engine for Substance Designer which is no small task.

Check this plugin: Substance Designer Live Link (3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, Houdini, Maya, Modo, Toolbag)

It bakes the maps and creates the material. I tried it with Vray Next GPU 1.1 and it works.
