yes, I am using vray4 nightly as well...
why such restricition? it used to work like a charm until recently...

It is a pain to be able to use only one nightly out of the two... but it works with official vray4 beta3

      Oh, whew, well that's it.

You should have checked this topic before https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...ta-for-3ds-max

Will try to explain why without getting too technical - two pieces of software usually communicate via an SDK - one software knows what the other software can do and asks it stuff. When the version of the SDK changes, sometimes it's possible to preserve compatibility but when big stuff needs to change, compatibility breaks. This way the software asking for stuff from the other software starts missing stuff to ask for and then the 'specified procedure cannot be found' message starts appearing.

The V-Ray SDK breaks between each major revision - between V-Ray 2 and 3, and between V-Ray 3 and 4. While V-Ray 4 is in beta, the SDK keeps breaking since the V-Ray guys keep reorganizing stuff.

Phoenix builds separate installations for V-Ray 3 and separate installations for V-Ray 4. Since the release of V-Ray 3.0, the V-Ray 3 SDK has not changed and it has to remain the same so all 3rd party plugins such as Phoenix, Forest Pro etc can work with it.

The V-Ray 4 version of Phoenix can go in several directions - Phoenix for V-Ray 4 can be compatible with the latest nightly, or the latest official beta, or can have several builds for beta 1, beta 2, beta 3, etc. Or it could have separate builds for each V-Ray 4 revision where the SDK was changed which would be a few tens of builds.

Obviously only options 1 and 2 are realistic, an since everyone has access to the last official Beta, but almost no one has access to the V-Ray nightlies, we chose to support the last official Beta.

You can note that no other 3rd party plugins are trying to support V-Ray 4 at the moment.

All this will end when V-Ray Next is officially out and the SDK will be locked.

      Hope this helps

            Hey,

We'll release 3.11 when V-Ray next for 3ds Max comes out, and it will support Max 2019.

However, do you mean 'fully working' as in an official release, or do you have any issues with the nightly?
